Assets

In the first part of this tutorial you’ve learnt how to create a psychedelic vector marsh. You will need this image to continue the tutorial. You can use your own image or buy the one I did from Shutterstock:

Psychedelic landscape

Step 1

Select all – Cmd + A (mac) or Ctrl + A (pc) and group them – Cmd + G (mac) or Ctrl + G (pc). Make the group two times smaller (which means set 50% height and width in the Transform panel) and align it to the top left corner of the art-board (use the “Align to Artboard setting in the Align Panel”).

Step 2

Select the group and reflect it horizontally. Make a copy of it, reflect vertically and align to the top right corner of the art-board.

Step 3

Make a copy of two groups and reflect them horizontally. Then align to the bottom of the art-board.

Step 4

Select all – Cmd + A (mac) or Ctrl + A (pc) and group them – Cmd + G (mac) or Ctrl + G (pc). Make a copy of this group. Go to Effect > Warp > Inflate. Set the Bend to 100%. Go to Object > Expand Appearance.

Step 5

Make the sphere smaller and make a copy of it. Group them and align to the center of the art-board.

Step 6

Rotate two spheres-group 45o. Make a copy of this group and rotate 45o.

Step 7

Get a sphere from on of the groups and place a copy of it in the middle of the art-board. Rotate it so the diagonal line in the center of it will be vertical.

Step 8

Make the middle sphere bigger and set it’s Opacity to 50%.

Step 9

Make a copy of the transparent sphere and rotate it 90o.

Step 10

Make the second transparent sphere slightly bigger.

Step 11

Create a semi-cirlce: Use Ellipse Tool (L) holding Shift and once you’ve got a circle delete the bottom anchor with Direct Selection Toll (A).

Step 12

Add the band’s name alogn the path using Text Tool (T). I’ve used Forestry type. You can download it here for free. Make a copy of this text and change the text to the album title.

Step 13

Rotate the title text 180o. Select both text objects, Right Click and Create Outlines. Color the texts with gradient fill.

Step 14

Adjust the gradient’s angle of each object using Gradient Tool (G). Make a copy of both text objects, color them black, Send Backward and adjust their position so the text will have some 3D effect.

Step 15

Create a circle in the middle of the art-board. Fill it with a radial gradient with the yellow in the middle and green along the side.

Final Image

Finally add a pupil with a radial gradient with the black in the middle and grey along the side. This is it! Hope you’ve enjoyed it and learnt something new :)
